The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has said Ghana’s Parliament can not grow enough and stronger if its members are regularly changed, especially after every four years.

He explained that, the House need more experienced and matured members of Parliament with respect to the understanding of proceedings and other functions that contribute to the growth of our Democratic dispensation which is being practicing as a country.

Mr Haruna made these remarks on the floor of Parliament on Thursday 18 June, 2020, when he wished the New Patriotic Party and it’s Members of Parliament at majority side the very best of success and with peace as they go for primaries to elect their Parliamentary candidates for 2020 general elections, come Saturday 20 June, 2020.

He threw his support behind all incumbent members of Parliament on majority side who seek re-election to continue working for Ghana’s Parliament.

The leader went on to state that, these incumbent MPs need prayers, protection, and the support from Parliament since the more experienced members of Parliament we have, the stronger our Parliament will become.

He concluded his submission that, the minority and the National Democratic Congress party are monitoring closely as matters that will arise during their primaries after which, the NDC will make their comments as to monetization that might happened during the primaries.

Hon. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader of the house added his voice to the submission of minority leader for maintaining Members of Parliament for a longer period in other to strengthening our governance since Parliament is the central pillar of our democracy.

He advised that, political parties must exercise patience produce good candidates as MPs and maintain them than to be changing almost at the end of every four years.

MP for Suame and Majority Leader, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu made these comments when he moved the motion for adjournment of the house until Tuesday 23 June, 2020.
