Ecow Smith-Asante has advised budding Ghanaian actors to carve a niche for themselves instead of imitating ace actors John Dumelo and Majid Michel.
The award-winning actor stated that emerging actors are craving for the limelight but do not have enough skill to make it in the industry.
‘The Devil in the detail’ actor in a conversation with MzGee on Showbiz927 on 3FM, advised emerging actors to carve a niche for themselves to enable them to stand out in the industry.
“They need to take their time and learn the craft. Once you are the master of the craft, wherever you are people will find you. But if you come and you want to be like John Dumelo and Majid Michel and you are in their shadows, you can’t be seen,” He stated
Ekow advised that: “Carve your own niche, be who you are. As of now, I watch movies but I don’t see the substance in these young actors. I can’t identify an actor I will say I want to watch anytime. They don’t understand what they are doing so they think acting is a joke.”
His comments buttress an earlier claim by ace filmmaker, Shirley Frimpong Manso who lamented that upcoming actors do not show the seriousness with regards to their attitude towards work.
